Scott DuBose & 101 Ranch

“This is not your fathers Country Music, This is Ranch Rock!”
“This is not your Fathers Country Music”. Like hitting the gas on a supercharged Muscle car, Scott DuBose and 101Ranch come out swinging! In the last year Scott has shared the stage with a “Who’s Who” of country music. Montgomery Gentry, Chris Cagle, Kellie Pickler, Jake Owen, Charlie Daniels, David Allan Coe, Keith Anderson, and Blackhawk. After wining every major Country music award in Chicago Scott now tours extensively through out the Midwest. You’ve got to hear the band that Lisa Dent from Us99 calls “Great Chicago Entertainment” and Capitol Recording artist Chris Cagle says “Whenever I play in Chicago, I want these guys opening for me!”
The road has always been an Inspiration to musicians and Scott DuBose has learned a whole lot out on the road! “I love the road; it’s always been my solace.” It seems that he’s always been on the road. As a child Scott spent a lot of time between Chicago and Southern Mississippi. Scott’s Father was from just south of Hattiesburg Mississippi, and his mother was from the south side of Chicago. “It was great having parents from such diverse backgrounds. It really gave me an appreciation for city and country life” Scott’s father was born in a log cabin on a road named after his family. “My father came from a dirt poor, dirt floor household. He really had nothing growing up and I am eternally thankful for all the gifts he gave me when was a child.”
His parents always had music playing through out the house! His father was “more than a little bit country” and his mother was most certainly “Rock and Roll”. “I grew up with a pretty wild mix of music! Merle Haggard to AC/DC and everything in between!”
Scott grew up on the Southside of Chicago. He’s was a natural athlete winning a conference championship for his high school wrestling team. During high school he began working at a legendary Southside honky tonk, Lake-n-park inn. Legend has it that Lake-n-park was the inspiration for “Bob’s country bunker” in the movie “The Blues Brothers” He began to cut his teeth at the age of sixteen as a bar back (and occasional bouncer) and for him it couldn’t have been a better fit. “I loved the music and the atmosphere! I really felt at home” The house band became his inspiration. “Breakaway showed me what it was like to give the audience 110% EVERY night” Breakaway played the hits of the day and had a hit on Chicago country radio with their song “Angel on my shoulder”.
Scott began his professional stage career as an actor after he attended the Second City Training Center. He acted in a number of productions in Chicago, most notably “Working” by Studs Turkle and the long running hit “Tony and Tina’s Wedding”. During his four and a half years with the show he sang close to 320 shows a year and 30+ shows singing along side legendary singer Frankie Avalon. “The band at the show was made up of some of the best musicians in Chicago and they gave me quite the education! They were tough on me and really made me perfect my craft.” While at Tony and Tina’s, Scott started his band “The 101 Ranch”. He was doing shows at Tony and Tina’s and then running across town to do shows with his band. “It really came down to what I truly loved. I left Tony and Tina’s because country music is what was in my heart.” It was a risky move. At that time in Chicago, country music was a hard sell. Scott persevered and found success. He has played with Montgomery Gentry, Charlie Daniels, Keith Anderson, and Blackhawk just to name a few. “The fans have made what I do a reality. Without them I’d be nothing. I can’t thank them enough” Currently Scott’s playing over 100 shows a year.
And then came Ranch Rock! Scott had been playing out on the road since 2003 with the 101Ranch. In 2006 He needed to shake things loose! He made a couple of lineup changes and re- tooled the band to get the sound he was looking for. “For so long I wanted to take all those influences that I’d grown up with and create something everyone could rock out to!” And now word is getting out!!! Since August 2006 He has been all over the Midwest. From Michigan to Iowa, from Tennessee to the Northern Wisconsin and everywhere in between. Scott has been VERY busy from clubs to festivals giving the fans “Ranch Rock”
What is “Ranch Rock” you say??? Ranch Rock is the kind of country music that you wish the country bands you work with would play! High Energy, big fun!!! “We keep them on the dance floor, all night! Scott is not one who is content just standing in front of the mic! He’s all over the room. “"Scott Dubose and the 101 Ranch put on a kickin', high energy, audience screaming show. They really know their country music and perform it well! I love those guys!" Shawn Collins Kendall County Fair Director.
